Scenester "The Daily Grind" CD/Party Review
Review by: Samhouze

March was a big month in Toronto with a variety of top-grade events expected. Scenester Magazine had the opportunity to start the month off with a bang with its much-anticipated release of the Scenester “The Daily Grind” compilation CD. Mixed by J-Prez and mastered by George William, there were only 200 limited edition copies of the CD, which were distributed through the night.

The March 9th release party for the night was held at Footwork Bar, which has been consistently throwing down some quality events on their Friday nights. DJs for the night were Jayforce, The Vinyl Junkies, J-Prez and Manzone & Strong. Slurpyradio.com, houseaddict.com and Footwork Bar were sponsors for the event, which featured give-a-ways at various points through the night including two tickets to Decadence 2007 at The Guvernment Nightclub won by Kevin D of Toronto.

The CD itself is terrific representation of Scenester Magazine and the music it believes in. Starting off on a mellow note is Blaze“Do You Remember House” setting the mood nicely for the rest of the CD with the tempo only going up.

Other highlights include Buy Now“For Sale” (Minimal Chick Hyper Mix) and Mike Monday“Boondoogle” (Original Mix).

While the opening half of the CD is good listening, it’s the second half from Castelli and Chus & Ceballos“Quimera” (Original Mix) this CD really takes off. From this point on its big room Progressive Tribal House you can’t help but dance too. The CD does have a hint of Electro at the end with one of my favourite tunes Solid Groove“This is Sick” (Original Mix).

Overall The Daily Grind – Spring Editionis a sweet blend of House music with little room for disappointments. You’ll be boppin’ your heads and shaking your hips to this one, if you got it that is!
