Deko-ze - delicious
By: Samhouze bio
When I received my copy of Delicious, Deko-ze's new compilation album released on Hi-Bias records, I could hardly wait to get it in my CD player.
The CD itself is vintage Deko-ze. It gives the listener a short yet fulfilling look at the various styles he can bring to the decks. Starting off on a strong Tribal note, the compilation goes on a journey with a heavy vocal presence through the CD. Despite the presence of vocals in most of the tracks, his selection is such the cheese element is nowhere to be heard. About halfway through the energy level seems to jump up a notch with Mark Knight feat. Katherine Ellis - Insatiable and Deko-ze's own This Time (Funky Way Mix), which are both personal favorite tunes of mine.
He does have two other songs of his own on this compilation, the first being one of my personal top songs of the year so far, his remix of I Need Your Love by Nick Fiorucci with JaQe on vocals as well as a joint remix between him and Fiorucci of Nothing Better than Life by Sherrie Lea. Both are excellent productions showing promise for future releases I cannot wait for.
Overall the CD is to the core, the essence of Deko-ze as a DJ/remixer/producer. Those that know and follow his music will immediately appreciate the fact that he has laid his musical heart out there in the truest representation of what he can do on the decks and in production. As for those who don't know of "Canada's hardest working DJ", they'll be standing up and taking notice because this CD is only the beginning of what is about to come out of this outstanding skillful talent who is, dare I say, Delicious!
