Club Scene: Dragonfly Nightclub

Toronto entertainment mogul Charles Khabouth opened a new venue in Niagara Falls, Dragonfly Nightclub. The buzz was undeniable, with his history of success and reputation for excellence, the opportunity to partner up with the Niagara Fallsview Casino and open up a high-end nightclub was certainly exciting.

I had an opportunity to visit the club when DJ Armin Van Buuren took to the decks.

At first glance the club looks terrific and displays a large Mongolian like statue standing guard at the entrance. It’s obvious a fair amount of money went into this venue with incredible attention to detail as far as the interior design is concerned.

There is a VIP section on the immediate left hand side with very posh seating and red and black colour scheme. All the way down the right hand side of the club is an impressive bar with the usual array of beverages. Drinks are a tad expensive!

The DJ booth is located towards the end of the club and in a very convenient design scheme right next to the washroom. As an avid dancer right near the front of the booth, I found this very useful as the night went on. The DJ has a terrific view of the crowd and on a busy night with an enthusiastic audience, it must be quite the view.

Maybe the vibe made the night; maybe the DJ did. I believe the club and its décor with extremely friendly staff have a huge part to play in it all. People felt comfortable and they let it show. With DJs like Toronto locals Addy, Nathan Barato and Sydney Blu set to play there along with international greats, Donald Glaude and John Digweed, Dragonfly nightclub will see nothing but good days ahead.
