Moby - Go (Trentemøller Remix) - Mute
By: DJTK bio
Although Danish Techno producer Anders Trentemøller has been slugging away in Copenhagen’s underground scene for over 10 years, his international breakthrough in 2005 came with his first EP release on Steve Bug's Pokerflat Records, “Polar Shift' (followed by the fall 06 release full length album: "The Last Resort"). Since then, his visibility has continued to rise, with high-profile remixes for the likes of Royksopp, The Knife and Moby's "Go".
"Go" is the release that put Moby on the map, as far as Dance music goes. Originally released in 1991, 'Go" has been updated for the 21st century with a new mix and compiled with Moby's greatest hits on, 'Go: “The Very Best of Moby”.
Over the past few years, there have emerged two dominant 'schools of beats' in the EDM world: the less-is-more minimalists and the 'Electro-House' movement.
Though the tussle between the genres has torn more than a few relationships in two, estranged friends may at last rejoice once again may you frequent the same dancefloors! Trentemøller is the producer who effectively bridges the gap between genres--and this remix of Moby's signature track is a fine example of a track bringing elements of each together.
This remix is one of Trentemøller's most dancefloor-friendly remixes. Opening with glitch samples & mangling reminiscent of James Zabeila, the track gradually increases its energy with some chopped drum kit samples and a kicky tambourine on the 16ths; as we progress through the mix there are dubby alarm bleeping away over a bouncing bass pattern.
There is also a defined sense of space within each of the breaks, while generating suspense through to the next phase of the mix with classic 'Go' synth pads & piano stabs, and really letting loose!
Overall, a notable update to a classic song by a producer with a fresh, original sound..."Go" get this release.
