I remember attending my first Asian Xpress and feeling a sense of belonging; in a city as diverse as Toronto, it’s easy to forget your ethnic and sexual identity.  Asian Xpress parties had an edge to them that set them apart from its failed predecessors. Asian Xpress was less of a drab grass roots movement and it fashioned itself for a younger, sleeker crowd not to mention longevity. At its peak, they managed to ram Fly Nightclub to capacity.

The scene on the balcony dancefloor was something I could only describe as a page out of an Asian Harlem.  Some of the hottest, hippest and hunkiest gay Asian men coming out and representing their style, culture and couture were seen.

Unfortunately all good things come to an end and the core people behind Asian Xpress have gone their separate ways apparently on amicable terms.

Asian Xpress is still cranking out parties for the Asian scene, but it is DJ Sumation, arguably the heart if not the soul of the legendary party (OK, OK ...at least he was the poster boy!) has now created White Tiger West.   Armed with killer tunes, an ingenious advertising campaign and an adoring following he is ready to do it on his own. 

The crowd at Tallulah's Cabaret was smaller and more intimate than flashy Fly Nightclub but BABY, the love was in the air and the same hot, hip and hunky crowd showed up to bust a move.  It’s just a matter of time before word gets out about this gem.
